Meet Sharm.
I have always had a fascination for sarees. Back when I was a child, I would (try to) drape my mum’s sarees and pretend I was all grown up. This love for sarees remained through my teenage years and I gradually learned myself how to drape the saree neatly.
Over the years I have collected and been gifted many sarees and I love wearing them. I love the texture of the fabric, the designs, the intricate work they have and how you can wear them in so many different styles and look gorgeous!
My passion for sarees led me to start Simply Sarees in 2016. I wanted to start the business a few years before that however self doubt, uncertainty and fear if my business would actually be a successful venture, stopped me. After a lot of umming and ahhing, finally in 2016 I decided I would give it a go. I ordered 40 sarees from a wholesaler in India and in a short time, all of them sold out. This small success quickly led me to diversify the range of sarees that we sold. We also extended our stock to include ready made blouses, inskirts and fashion jewellery.
During the latter part of 2018, I realised that if I was to stay in the saree business for the long term, I should provide blouse stitching services too. It would make it easier for customers to get the full outfit done from one place. There was however a slight problem – I had no prior knowledge of sewing!! So I bought myself a sewing machine and enrolled for classes on how to use the sewing machine. A lot of hard work, practice, persistence and focussing on my goal saw me offering blouse stitching services for my customers in June 2019.
Simply Sarees has introduced me to so many people from different backgrounds and various walks of life. I particularly love this aspect of the business and I enjoy helping them select the perfect saree for their occasion.
